Two women, two expressions of faith, two awesome results – Although I have heard the saying “God is never too early, never too late, always on time”, I do not understand it. But here is a fine example, shared by Kimberly McGrath of Independence, Kansas. Kim is the mother of three of my g-kids (ages 10 to 19), and teaches at-risk kids in an elementary school. This is her story, as the first woman, which took place about one year ago (told in her own words).

I needed to sell my house before my daughter Kelby left for college. I listed it with a real estate agent but the agent did not show it much. During the year, my mom and my sister would reveal their concern that my house was not being shown. However, from the very beginning I have told everyone, “When it comes to me, God has a sense of humor. He waits till the very last moment for something to happen. This is just a given between me and God”.

The best date for me to move out of the house was before August 1. I never worried one bit the whole year because I knew how it would turn out. Towards the end of May, my mom and sister again expressed their concern about selling my house. I told them it would all work out.

But the reality of a terrible housing market motivated me to change gears, and I decided to try and sell the house on my own, or to rent it. Renting would at least pay the mortgage. Two days after I put my sign in the yard, a man stopped by. He was just moving into town with Amazon and he and his wife were looking for a house to rent. I showed it to both of them and they loved it. They had a few more houses to look at but my house was at the top of their list. They told me they would call me on Sunday and let me know for sure.

Then came the panic attack……they told me they needed to move in within two weeks. My home is 2,800 square feet, and there was no way I could have everything packed and moved within two weeks. Aware of the urgency, my mom and sister both urged me onward: “You don’t have a choice”.

However, just two hours later a second man stopped by, and said he had just moved to town with his family, and he was interested in renting my house. I told him about the first man and how they were most likely going to rent it.
“Come on in and take a look” I suggested, “just in case the first man decides not to rent it”. Immediately the second man fell in love with the house, and became very excited. He said it was perfect for his family, and told me if the first man didn’t want it, they would take it for sure.

While all this was churning around in my mind, the second man took a deep breath and said, “There is one problem……we cannot move in until August 1”. Right then and there I knew that this second man would be the one renting my house, since that timing was perfect for me. However, the next day I started getting nervous again because I had already promised the house to the first man. I paused and remembered how God had dealt with me in the past, so I folded my hands in my lap, looked up to Heaven, and waited.

Bingo! The first man called the next day and said they had found a smaller house that worked better for them. So the gist of the story is that God worked everything out, and I did not have to worry. He arranged to let the family of the second man rent the house, and I got to enjoy my house up until the very last day! Perfect timing by a wonderful God!

The second woman? She lived a long time ago. But her story is packed with human passion: suffering…..belief…..courage…..fear…..relief. It’s not a long story…..takes about five minutes to read. But the people reactions are intense, the power transfer is intriguing, and the result is remarkable. See the Gospel of Mark, chapter 5, verses 24-34.

The Gray Nomad.
Probing the practice of Christian believers….

“And there was a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, and who had endured much suffering…….She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment, for she kept saying, If I only touch His garments I shall be restored to health. And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source……And He said to her, Daughter, your faith has restored you to health” (Mark, chapter 5, Amplified Bible).
